Boredom, left behind

'Boring' ,'getting bored' ,'boredom'.......these have been my answers to all those queries like 'How is life?'.Once i have even set my status as 'confronting ennui '.Many people asked me why is it boring that much.I answered for some , i got bored of such questions. A friend reminded me what i have told her once, "Don't feel that way if u don't like it.After all your mind is primarily in your own control".Some one told me ," you should stop telling every one you are bored". I started keeping quiet ,I got bored of keeping quiet. For some time i tried to get new words that express boredom , but i got bored very soon. Now i am bored of this boredom.I decided to stay away from this boredom for some time.

A new year day

This is a post that waited for more than two months in drafts only because of my laziness(See ,its not only me who is the victim of my laziness). Its all about the first day of 2009. We welcomed new year by observing the celebrations from our balcony. Observing included counting the number of guys who can't walk without the help of others (some one tried to assume their brand too), trying to take snaps of fireworks and ending up in a sigh "oh, shook" , lying to every one who phoned to wish new year "Hey, i just tried your number , but it seems to be horrible network congestion now" (they might have considered themselves lucky to get through the congestion). By 2 'o clock me and Varsha realised why nobody wanted to sleep . Every one except us have holiday on January 1. That realisation automatically brought us sleep. Cursing the trainer who wanted to adjust his schedule , we some how assembled in front of our computers (I'm sure ,the one i used genuinely hated me since i used to play games through out the day) by 10'o clock.

After a few hours the trainers face revealed he was not able to do any thing for us due to some technical problems ( really yaar , i don't remember why he suspended class that day ,i was busy helping Varsha play Hungaroo). By the time he announced the class is suspended , Kanu and Kshama have finalised about in which show we will watch Ghajini .

Rushing back to room i smiled at Neethu in cafeteria who seems to rise at 11 'o clock only and having her brake fast. She came running to me and said they have a plan to go to Summersands beach. What else than "OK" could be my response . Then my common sense came to play and i asked " where is it? how can we reach there? " and all those kind of queries. "Satheeesh have gone there once , so he might know" . Then i realised about my promise to Kshama and Kanu about Ghajini. But at the end they too agreed to join us after a long dilemma.

When we were about to leave the guest house ,we met Pooja in the lobby and Kshama forcefully invited her and she came even without a purse ( now a days a mobile is the basic necessity , not a purse).

We travelled around six kilometers from our academy to reach the bus stand.Had lunch in a restaurant that satisfied both our South and North Indian tongues. Salary alert added up the happiness. In the bus station some one told its bus number 44 we have to board. It brought some flashes to me and Varsha , we have taken the same bus to Someshwar beach one month before. But on the bus it was clearly written Summer sands beach. Bus run through some routes that flushed all our doubts , we are new to this route. After half an hour a gang of around 30 people appeared in front of the bus with balls , goggles etc. Some of their friends came running from a pocket road which had a hotel's sign board. When we realised it was our friends from the other batch , we showered a thousand questions on them." what happened , you are boarding from here? tyre puncture? you came to eat in that hotel ?". They said " Hey , this is the road that reaches our academy .Its just five minute walk from here". We hid our face in a smile and uttered " We were craving for good food, that's why we travelled this much. You know our lunch was delicious."We could see ELLA 's roof while bus crossed the bridge over river Nethravathi.

When bus came to a halt i informed my friends Summer sands beach has another name, Someshwar and many of us had already been here once or twice. Any way every one was overjoyed when Summer sands turned to be Someshwar.I swear it is the most beautiful and serene beach i have ever seen in my life ( let me confess , i have seen only a very few beaches but still , I'm from the coastal edge of Indian peninsula. Why can't I be an authority to say this).

The beautiful colour of water , the curved shape of shore , the rocks , the beautiful temple on top of the rocks , the road that leads to the place ,each and every thing has a serenity , that too quite visible. Rekha took in charge of photographer ( Its Majeesh who used to provide camera's in every trip). After sometime every one climbed on the slippery rocks , again a photo session. The adventurous people ( I'm waiting for a day when i too will be named adventurous) climbed to some rocks half merged in sea. The rest of us moved to a safer zone .Pooja was reluctant to rise from where she sat.Kshama shouted at her " Udt bey ......".Pooja spring up and some thing fell down from her lap.Her beautiful , new mobile (when you don't know the model name 'beautiful', 'cool' etc come handy) slid over the rocks and stopped at the edge. "Maja mobile....", she cried. But no one allowed her to step forward. The phone waited one more moment and fell down to the deep sea below , patting the sharp rock edges with its smooth touch screen.
But its human nature to forget every thing within a fraction of time( But if it was mine , i would be so sad for that). We all sat there till horizon turned to be a palette that sprinkled colour on sky and sea. When the orange sky bid bye to us we moved to temple.View from the temple premises was beyond words. As if that moment was captured in black and white mode.By the time we reached the bus stop it was 7.30.We were lucky enough to get the last bus since it was stuck there with a flat tyre.It took another half an hour to get the tyre fixed.Any way we were thank full to that tyre(Other wise ...........).
To where will we take ticket? Definitely to the place where the other gang joined us in the after noon ,near to our academy .But some one suggested we can have food in Kankanady( just 4km away) and go back.Every body agreed in one voice.
We didn't bother to get down in Morgan's gate because of the dinner plan. But only after the bus entered the bus stand we realised the route excluded Kankanady. Before we decided to get down there the bus had started its trip again to Someshwar .No one bothered about us travelling back and forth.I swear my friends the bus have touched Kankanady in afternoon trip. Some one asked the conductor and he nodded yes. After hardly some 10 minutes some one who had comparatively fluent Kannada asked the cleaner and he screamed "NO".We were all dumb stuck. Some how we got down before bus left the town.We had to walk 1km to find a restaurant. But every thing seemed to be a dream when i saw happy Varsha sitting in front of a plate of fried prawns.Let me keep quiet about the auto charge we payed that night , all the thrill will run away.

A dog story

The first thing we noticed about our new neighbourhood in Chennai was not only its hatred towards neatness but also these dogs.On the very first day we were scared to get out of the house because of them. Then Neethu recollected ,even in Mangalore we could find so many dogs .There it was the stray dogs sleeping on the road side. They were not even disturbed of the rushing cars to the Mangalore club or the pedestrians. But those passive dogs and our new neighbours are way too far relatives.
These 'smart'(yes, dats it) dogs ne'er fit to the term stray dogs. They are the securities in charge of the whole residential area. The three who are responsible for our part usually lies down under the neem trees leaning to the road from our compound. We started referring 'our dalmatian' the one with black n white mark all over its body, second one 'our Alsatian' and the third 'our pug'.
But at 'party time' they would have a lot of companions of all kind .They have only one thing in common, they all are street dogs.
Once on a fine sun day morning we saw these dogs resting under the neem tree as usual.Suddenly all the three spring up and started barking staring to a pocket road.Within no time many joined them ,like acting as a team on time of a catastrophe. After some two or three minutes emerged a stout man with a walking stick in his hands .Beside him was a dog as stout as its owner with a neck collar indicating its noble birth. The heavy white dog, seemed to be highly loyal to his master, tried to confront these street guys. But in front of a gang of 15 'roaring lions' ,ready to tear him in to meat balls , it tried to hide behind the master. The whole battalion covered the entrance of the road .At last the born with silver spoon guy gave up and ran away.We could see it waiting for his master at the other end of the road.I regretted for not having a handy cam for the first time then.
They ne'er barked at any of the residents,ne'er to any of the guests in ironed cloths. But if some one with a torn cloths and untidy attire appears they would chase them out of the area.(This is were they score a minus ten) .Once a family of folk people came walking in a very fast pace. The dogs started barking loud till they disappeared. Then the 'cow boys' turned suddenly back to their work as nothing happened.
It is the best thing about them.We haven't ever noticed them gossipping.Once their work is over, team disperses .
Once a huge Crane entered the road with much difficulty. The driver some how kept its arms folding and unfolding to manage through. Some others who followed it shouted directions 'left','right a bit'......But the driver couldn't hear anything. Then came the dogs.Barking from behind the crane, running from here and there as if to make sure it doesn't hit anything. The same happens when some one has a confusion in turning their car.
Now a days its our favourite pass time to watch them.Since it was Neethu who gave them the breed names ,me and Fathima call them Neethu's dogs.
